Best Friend's Wedding

I can't believe my best friend's wedding is coming up pretty quick in July!!!! I am so excited to be flying to Newfoundland to see her as I haven't seen her since my own wedding in July 2010. I really wish I lived closer as I am hearing about all these fun wedding plans and am unable to share in the experience because I live on the other side of the country :( Even though I am so far away I am always there in spirit and will be by her side on the most important day of her life so far.

I can't wait to see how everything comes together for her and her fiance. To meet the other bridesmaids and her family and friends. I also can't wait to wear the gorgeous dress she picked for us to wear. The color is a beautiful marine blue.... we are all going to be some pretty good looking ladies....

Can't wait to see you Kathryn in a couple more months!!!!!

Happy Belated Easter

Happy Belated Easter Everyone. I forgot to even post about what Hubs (or should I say the Easter Bunny) brought me this year. Hubs woke me up Sunday morning saying I had to come see what the Easter bunny left for us. When I went into the kitchen there were 4 fresh hot cinnamon buns from a local bakery sitting there, along with a fresh loaf of bread and a yummy Easter chocolate mini egg shaped cake.

The cinnamon buns were a delicious treat for breakfast, and we enjoyed the mini egg cake for supper that night.

Welcome to April...

I can't believe I haven't blogged since my Hubs birthday! I've been super busy (I know, I know.... I always say that) but I really have been.

For Hubs birthday, we decided to keep it low key this year as we will be headed back to Mexico pretty soon. We went out for dinner at a place called the Spitfire Grill. We hadn't checked it out yet and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is nice.... it's not fancy but it has a little style. It over looks the airport and has a bit of an airplane theme to it. I didn't really care for the fact that they seated everyone who was in the restaurant in the same tight little corner instead of spacing us out a bit (it wasn't super busy). Hubs ordered the Striploin Steak and I had the Cedar planked Salmon. The meal was good, I wouldn't say amazing though. However, my veggies were pretty delicious. They were more root vegetables instead of the typical peas and corn, and they weren't overcooked. We opted out of dessert as I had bought Hubs an ice cream cake from DQ (one of his favorites). We hadn't had a DQ cake in a couple years and it wasn't as good as I remember them being (unless it was just the way that particular one was made).

Easter long weekend, Hubs and I both had 4 days off together, and let me tell you we spent it wisely, lol. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, bright blue sunny skies and temperatures hovering around 20 degrees everyday. Friday we started the day off with a tan, then headed to Butchart Gardens for a walk. You could definitly tell it was a holiday as it was more packed then usual around the gardens. The spring flowers are definitly in bloom and blossoming. They even had an Easter bunny hunt, were kids went on a scavenger hunt to find the many white bunnies with colored bows hiding throughout the gardens.

After the gardens we stopped in at our local Red Barn Market for an ice cream cone. The prices are pretty reasonable and you get a huge scoop of ice cream for the price. We sat out on the covered balcony and enjoyed the warm weather and first real taste of spring for the year.

After returning home, we felt it was too nice to be inside and decided to clean out "ManLand". It's a little room attached to the outside of our house (kinda like a shed) where Hubs keeps all his tools, and we keep our camping gear, freezer and other odds and sodds. We hauled everything out, cleaned and swept the cobwebs and dust and reorganized the space. It was so nice to be able to through away things that weren't being used or were broken and forgotten about. It's also really nice to have it organized, so we can just walk in there without trying to maneuver around stuff.

Saturday morning, we got up and headed for a tan again. Then we decided to tackle our deck. We scrapped all the old paint off of it, washed it down and swept all the old, dead pine needles off the floor. I somehow even managed to get a sunburn (just to show you how warm it was). We let the deck dry out for the rest of the day and decided we would paint it the next day.

Sunday morning, we skipped tanning (well I did because I got a sunburn the day before). We decided to go for breakfast at Floyd's diner which had just opened up out our way. There is one in Victoria and we loved it when we lived in town. It's themed like an old fashioned diner and the food is aweome. Hubs had the lumbarjack breakfast which is 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, hasbrowns and pancakes. I decided to try the banana french toast which had fresh banana's and toffee sauce drizzled all over it. The meal was pretty darn good and left us both full. Prices are pretty reasonable as well. We paid 20ish dollars for 2 breakfasts and Hubs had a all you can drink coffee with his as well.

After breakfast we set to work on painting our deck. We have it 2 coats of white paint to freshen it up. We are still thinking of adding a sunroom where the deck is so we are holding out on doing to much work to it just in case we rip it down.

Monday, Hubs and I ventured downtown to the breakwater to check out the new railings they were putting up along the path. We also visited Dallas beach, which is kind of our first date spot here in Victoria. We headed to the mall to pick up our tickets for our trip and I purchased a new dress from Aeropostale. It originally was $60 when I had seen it the last time and couldn't justify spending that much on it. This time, it was 50% off. I pulled a medium and XL off the rack since they didn't have a L (which I assumed would be what size I would fit). Trying on the XL it fell off of me, so I figured the medium would be small since I'm a little bustier. I put the medium on and it fit perfectly. There is a little bit of stretch to the back if it so it does give you some flex room, but the large would have definitly been to big as well. The length is awesome too. Since I am only 5'1' I have a hard time with length on maxi dresses unless they are meant for petite girls. This was a regular dress and it just skimmed the floor on me, so I definitly scored and picked it up. Plus I love the polka dots on the skirt and it will be a nice summer dress. They also had a pale lilac purple and a teal green with a more floral print. I tried on the lilac but it just washed me out with the coloring, and I already own a dress similar to the green one (just shorter length).

Monday, I spent much of the evening trying to recoup from our busy weekend and the cold I seemed to have picked up from somewhere.

The rest of this week, I've been busy with school and work and another project Hubs and I have on the go and will talk about later on once it comes into fruition.
