Happy Birthday!

Today is my 27th birthday (Actual at the time I posted this I officially turned 27)!! I can't believe I am 3 years away from being the big 3-0. It really is amazing how fast time flies by.

This weekend I am up celebrating with hubs and his dad and stepmom! It's nice to get away and see family when our schedules work together.

Congrats!

Sending our congratulations to one of hubs best friends and his wife as they celebrate their marriage at their at-home reception today. They got married in Cuba in December (we luckily got to take part in this celebration), and are having an at home reception for those who couldn't make it.

Here's to many more years of wedded bliss!

Random catchup

So I've been back to work at my old job for just about a week now and all I can say is I really miss working in the office. I miss being able to wear normal clothes, I miss the 7-3 work schedule, I miss my coworker, and I miss feeling like I'm making a difference.

It sucks to feel like I'm doing mind numbing work, being short staffed and working my butt off is definitely no fun. I'm not knocking my job, I mean some people absolutely love this type of work and that's awesome, it's just not my ideal type of work.

It also sucks that work denied my time off for my best friends wedding. I had my leave in months ago and it took until just recently for them to give me the answer that they denied my leave. The reason is they are so short staffed, which frankly is not my problem but I'm left to feel the after effects of it. Thank god I hadn't booked my flights yet but I did purchase my dress. They hadn't started the alterations yet so I might be in luck that they may take the dress back as I haven't brought it home yet (fingers crossed).

I can't believe I won't be there for the most important day in my best friends life. Even though I won't be there in person I will be there in spirit.

I start the practicum portion of my course pretty quick. I have my "job interview" for it tomorrow morning so I hope that goes well.

Today we had some vents put into our roof so our bathroom fans will vent properly. We hope to get our gutters redone in the next month or so as we'll.

Happy Father's Day!

Just wanted to wish all the dad's, dad's to be,  and grandfather's out there a very Happy Father's Day.

Happy Father's Day to my Hubs as well!

I'm also sending a special Happy Father's Day wish to my dad today. He has always been there to support, comfort, and guide me. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful father in my life, as well as wonderful grandfather's! Love you so much xoxoxoxo.

Staying Organized

Working full time, shift work and going to school full time means I really have to stay focused and organized to keep on track. I try to get a lot of school work done on nights/weekends that hubs is working so that when we do get time off together I can spend it with him.

I try to keep up on the household chores by doing a little bit each day. This could mean throwing in a load of laundry while I'm studying, turning on the dishwasher, sweeping the floors, emptying the dishwasher in the morning before work, and keeping up on the few dishes I hand wash. I find if I don't leave the laundry piled high, or the dishwasher full its easier and less intimidating when it comes time to do housework. I'll even clean the bathroom in chunks. One day it could be the sink, the next the toilet, and the tub after I've showered. Hubs is a big help when it comes to housework as well. Often times he will throw in a load of laundry before he heads to work or puts on the dishwasher, so by the time I get home I just put the clothes in the dryer or empty the dishwasher.

I also try to get my lunch ready for work the night before so I'm not scrambling in the morning. This means if I'm running late I can just grab it and go and not be tempted to buy lunch at work. I always keep a couple bucks in my lunch bag just in case my salad isn't enough or I want something hot to drink. I also keep extra snacks in my bag just in case the munchies hit.

In my current position I don't wear a uniform so I make sure to lay out my clothes the night before. This means I'm not figuring out what to wear at 5 in the morning or waking up hubs while I dig through my dresser.

I also always try and get everything rounded up the night before and put it in my bag for work. This means my keys are in my purse, my sweater is in my bag, my water bottle is cleaned and by the sink. It only takes a few extra minutes but saves lots of time in the morning from frantically looking for my keys.

Sometimes when I'm prepping my lunch I'll cut extra veggies for the next couple days. It saves the prep work and only gets dishes dirty once.

Do you have any organizational tips or tricks you use?

MIA

I've really been missing in action the last little while. I keep meaning to blog but time slips away. It's been a while since my last post and I feel horrible. I keep up on reading everyone else's posts at least. I just downloaded the blogger app so hopefully that will help so I can post from my phone and not just the computer!

I can't believe my best friend is getting married in under a month!

Father's Day is just around the corner.

I go back to my old job 1 week from Wednesday.

My birthday is coming up this month.

A big congrats to Veronika over at Veronikas blushing on the birth of her beautiful daughter Harper. If you haven't checked out her blog please do.

The weather here is finally starting to feel like summer. I've actually gotten a small sunburn from one of our walks recently.

My brother just got the ability to accept credit cards with his business. He is 19 so I must say that's pretty awesome!
