Moving, oh how I hate thee

So we found out today that we will be able to move into our new place August 30th instead of September 1st. We are both super excited, since it will give us a little more time to move things to our new apartment, as well as time to clean the old one.

Even though I'm excited to be moving, I'm a little unexcited as well. I mean its the first place Hubs and I lived together in, we got engaged and married while living there as well so its full of memories. Hubs keeps telling me that its the memories that matter and not the house, and how we will create new memories in the place we are moving to. This definitly cheers me up, along with thinking about how we will now be living in a 2 level townhome with 1.5 bathrooms. Also, the fact that I get to do a little shopping to buy a few new things for the new place is definitly exciting (we need a few things for the extra bathroom and some cute lights for our decks).

Hubs also has a few friends coming to help us move (yay!!) so I won't have to help move all the boxes and furniture. I get to stay behind and clean and pack the last minute things.

Our last few days have basically consisted of packing and cleaning, with a little relaxation thrown in yesterday (Hubs and I had the day off together which doesn't happen often) Last night Hubs took me for an ice cream date to Dairy Queen after a busy day of packing. It was nice to get out and have a mini date, especially when ice cream was involved.

Citrus Squeezer

Something I completely forgot to blog about in my last post is the newest kitchen tool we purchased over the weekend, a citrus squeezer. I have to say it's probably one of the best tools ever invented and one every kitchen should have if you use lemons or limes. I have been looking for months for one of these and most stores didn't carry them, let alone understand what they were (the majority of stores thought I was talking about a citrus zester). I finally came across it at Stokes when we were shopping on Sat. I was able to pick it up for $10, which to me was a deal considering I've never even seen one in a store until now. Even when I talked to the cashier, she said they had just gotten them in earlier that week and that they would sell out quick once people realized they were there. I definitly recommend you pick one up if you use lemons or limes.

Time is flying

I can't believe how quickly time is flying by, it seems so long ago that I wrote my last post here. Besides being busy working (who isn't) we found out earlier this week that we got the apt we applied for which means we will be MOVING at the end of this month!!. We are both super excited to be moving to the new place. Not only is it closer to where I work, but it's also a 2 level townhouse with 1.5 bathrooms and insuite laundry. Right now we are renting a one level place that has just outgrown us. I'm kind of dreading the whole packing part, but excited to be able to redecorate our new place.

The weather here the last couple days has been soo hot. It's been in the 30's (oC not oF) and looks to be staying that way until at least tuesday. Yesterday we decided to take a day trip and just get out of the house. We did a little shopping (preshopping for decor idea for our new apt) and had lunch at Earls courtesy a gift card I received at my bachelorette party. Hubs had the Los Cabos Chicken Taco's and I had the Cajun Chicken Cheddar Sandwich. Once our meal came we decided to split it so we could sample a little of what each other had. I must say it was one of the better meals I've had out in a long time. Food was excellent and the service was great.

We decided to head up to Coombs and along the way seena sign for the Coombs fair, which we thought was an added bonus as we had no idea it was going on. Coombs is a great little day adventure to a little market witha  bunch of shops surrounding it. You can buy everything from homemade breads, desserts, a huge assortment of cheeses, to Asian pottery and household items including antiques and things for the garden. What i love most about this place is how you can find such unique things that you generally can only find in a specialty store and that its like a flea market. We ended up buying a drink to cool off and some Jalepeno cheddar cheese brear to bring home. Another cool feature of this place is that the roof of the main building is grassy and there are actually goats that live on the roof. It ended up being so hot that we left early and decided to go grab an ice cream to help beat the heat. We decided to stop in at Dairy Queens for a cone but ended up getting a Blizzard after I seen they had the Brownie Batter Blizzard on the menu (its a tough one to find on the menu and often just a month feature once in a blue moon). Afterwords hubs and I packed it in and headed home.

Today we plan on getting a good head start on packing our current apt up. Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

Catch up post

Holy moly, the week is flying by as its already Thursday. Tuesday night hubs and I went to see Inception and it was a great movie. Definitly lives up to all the hype its been getting. If you haven't seen it yet then definitly go watch it.

Last night we we're invited over to Hubs dad's and stepmom's for supper. We hadnt seen them since about a week after our wedding so it was nice to be able to spend time with them. We had steak, baked potatoes and salad out on their patio and a homemade English Triffle for dessert. We also brought over a bottle of our wedding wine to have with dinner. It was a great night and I finally got to meet my new step brother who was down visiting from Quebec.

Hubs started a business back in January and with all the rush and business of wedding planning he put it on the backburner for a bit. Now that our wedding is over he is getting back into the business with full force and doing quite well. If you're interested in checking it out there is a link at the top of my blog.

I promise I'm going to get onto posting about the wedding when I have a little more free time. I'm thinking i might do a comparison post. Meaning I will post what my planning was and how all the planning turned out on the actual wedding day.

So ends another weekend and the start of a new month

Where did the weekend go?? I had the weekend off with hubs (which is a rarity) and even though we didn't do anything crazy and adventurous we did have a nice quiet relaxing weekend at home with no alarm clocks or places to be at a certain time. Friday night we sleep in the tent in the yard again (We've been doing this for the past week). Early saturday morning we awoke to the heat in the tent from the sun. We decided to go out and buy some new fish for our tank. It was time to give the 3 fish we had a few new friends. We ended up buying 3 zebra danios, 1 gourmi, and a rubber lip plecostamous.

Today is August 1st already!!. I can't believe July is here and gone already and hubs and I will soon have been married a month already. Time is definitly flying by. Today we had a lounge around the house type of day since we don't really get those too often with us both working shift work. Hubs made a huge omlette for brunch. Then we decided to have a cup of tea and try out our new electric kettle. Hubs had a chai spice tea with steamed milk and I tried the cranberry raspberry tea i picked up at the grocery store the other day (I'm not much of a coffee or tea drinker but am trying to get more into tea). I LOVED this tea, it was the perfect blend, not to strong or bitter and could be drank either hot or as an iced tea. I definitly think I'm going to be drinking a bit more tea now. I'm also excited because a few friends and family started sending us some wedding pics :) And our photographer Pete Snell sent us a few teasers. We can't wait to see the rest of them. Once we recieve them I'll post a few and some details of our wedding.

Tomorrow is a holiday here in Canada, but I'm working by choice. I couldn't turn down getting paid double time and a half and use it towards time off for later in the year (possible for when we decide to go on our honeymoon). I'll be done work by 2 then have the rest of the day to spend with hubs.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, love you hubs xoxo
